Cyclopentolate + Hydrochloride Eye Drops - Indication

This medication is used before eye examinations (e.g. refraction exams).
Cyclopentolate works by temporarily widening (dilating) the pupil of the eye and relaxing the muscles of the eye.

Dosage

Instill one or two drops of solution in the eye(s). May repeat in five to ten minutes if needed.

Mechanism of Action

It belongs to a class of drugs known as anticholinergics that blocks the responses of the sphincter muscle of the iris and the accommodative muscle of the ciliary body to stimulation by acetylcholine resulting in Dilating the pupil (mydriasis).
